1/550 Medea (Midea) Transport Plane - 1981 Vintage Original (Red Logo)
Matilda Ajan’s Iconic Supply Craft: A Piece of 0079 History
Honor the memory of the Supply Corps. At Dragoon Gaming, we have sourced a rare vintage original 1/550 Medea Transport Plane. Originally released in 1981 as part of the "Best Mecha Collection" (#20), this kit is a cornerstone of the original Mobile Suit Gundam run. This is the authentic 1980s release, featuring the Red Bandai Logo and the classic matte-finish box art preferred by mecha historians.
Authentic 1980s "Old Kit" Craftsmanship
The 1/550 Medea is more than just a model; it is a tribute to one of the most poignant arcs in the Universal Century. Designed to transport the RX-78-2’s spare parts across the Earth, this "Old Kit" (Kyu-kitto) requires plastic cement (glue) and paint to complete. Its unique, bulky transport silhouette and functional rear ramp design represent the industrial, military-first aesthetic of the early 80s hobby boom.
Why this 1981 Vintage Original is a Must-Have:
-
Authentic Red Logo Box: A verified first-era release with the original matte box texture.
-
Matilda Ajan Tribute: Includes a miniature 1/550 scale Triple Dom (Black Tri-Stars) set, allowing you to recreate the fateful "Jet Stream Attack" battle.
-
Unbuilt & Complete: All parts remain on their original 1980s runners in pristine, unbuilt condition.
-
1/550 Scale Accuracy: Perfectly scaled to match other vintage 1/550 Mobile Armours like the Big Zam or Elmeth.
-
Investment Grade: A rare find in the UK market, especially in well-preserved "Red Logo" condition.
How to build:
As a traditional 1981 kit, the Medea requires hobby glue. At Dragoon Gaming, we recommend Tamiya Extra Thin Cement to ensure the vintage plastic bonds cleanly. For the anime-accurate "Matilda Custom" look, we suggest a vibrant yellow spray primer and hand-painting the dark-blue cockpit and mechanical underside.
