1/550 MA-04X Zakrello - 1982 Vintage Original (Red Logo)
The Cult-Classic Terror of the Zeon Space Forces
Embrace the strange side of the One Year War. At Dragoon Gaming, we have secured a rare vintage original 1/550 Zakrello. Originally released in December 1982 as part of the "Best Mecha Collection" (#49), this kit is a legendary piece of Gunpla history. This is the authentic first-era release, featuring the Red Bandai Logo and the classic matte-finish box art prized by collectors of 1980s mecha memorabilia.
Authentic 1980s "Old Kit" (Kyu-kitto) Engineering
The Zakrello is one of the most distinctive Mobile Armors in the Universal Century, known for its menacing "face" design, massive scythe-like heat claws, and high-output thrusters. This 1/550 scale model represents the era of traditional modeling, requiring plastic cement (glue) and paint to finish. Its yellow-and-red palette and industrial mechanical details capture the experimental spirit of Zeon’s late-war development.
Why this 1982 Vintage Original is a Must-Have:
-
Authentic Red Logo Box: A verified 1982-run release with the original matte box texture.
-
Unique Accessory: Includes a tiny 1/550 scale Gundam (B-parts version)—recreating the moment the RX-78-2 attached to a G-Fighter thruster to chase the Zakrello.
-
Unbuilt & Complete: All parts remain on their original 1982 runners in pristine, unbuilt condition.
-
1/550 Scale Accuracy: Perfectly scaled to display alongside other vintage Mobile Armor kits like the Big Zam or Elmeth.
-
Investment Grade: As the final entry (#49) in the main Best Mecha Collection series, "Red Logo" Zakrellos are increasingly hard to find in the UK.
How to build:
As a traditional 1980s kit, the Zakrello requires hobby glue. At Dragoon Gaming, we recommend Tamiya Extra Thin Cement for a clean bond. For the iconic "neon yellow" look, we suggest a bright yellow spray primer followed by hand-detailing the red scythes and the massive diffuse mega particle cannon "mouth."
