AK Interactive - Sanding Sponges P400 Grit (6 Units)
The Ultimate Solution for Curved Armor and Complex Surfaces
Don't let flat sandpaper ruin the organic curves of your mobile suits. At Dragoon Gaming, we recommend the AK Sanding Sponges P400 as the "workhorse" tool for every builder’s station. While traditional strips are great for flat surfaces, these high-density sponges are engineered to conform to the rounded armor of a Zaku II, the aerodynamic wings of the RG Epyon, or the futuristic contours of the 2026 GQuuuuuuX series.
Durability and Precision in Every Pass
This 6-unit pack provides long-lasting value for high-volume builders. The P400 grit is the most versatile grade in the hobby, offering enough "bite" to rapidly remove stubborn nubs left by your nippers while being fine enough to leave a smooth, uniform surface ready for paint or higher-grit polishing. Because the abrasive is mounted on a flexible foam core, it distributes pressure evenly, preventing the "flat spots" that often occur when using traditional sanding sticks on curved parts.
Why Use AK P400 Sanding Sponges?
-
Superior Flexibility: Naturally follows the contours of 1/144 and 1/100 scale kits, ensuring a perfect finish on rounded legs, shoulders, and fuel tanks.
-
6-Unit Value Pack: Durable and reusable sponges that resist clogging, providing enough material to get you through multiple Master Grade projects.
-
Essential Grit Grade: The P400 is the industry standard for general surface preparation and secondary nub removal.
-
Wet & Dry Performance: Fully waterproof and ideal for wet sanding. Using them with water keeps the sponge clean and prevents the "pilling" of plastic dust on your parts.
-
Customizable Shapes: These sponges can easily be cut with hobby scissors into smaller triangles or strips to reach into the tightest mechanical recesses.
How to use:
After an initial pass with a coarser grit (like 240) to remove the bulk of a nub, use the AK P400 Sanding Sponge to blend the area into the surrounding plastic. At Dragoon Gaming, we suggest using a gentle, circular motion. If you are preparing a part for paint, the 400-grit finish provides the ideal "tooth" for primer to bond securely. For "no-paint" builds, follow up with P600 or P800 sponges to restore the plastic's original sheen.
